Summer Reading

Come join us!

The New Braunfels Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program kicks off on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, launching a summer’s worth of reading fun and activities. This year’s theme is “Color Your World!” which encourages residents to join with family, friends, and neighbors to not only catch up on reading this summer, but to get creative through reading, art, writing, and exploring all the colorful ways to learn and have fun this summer.

This year’s Summer Reading Program begins with a fun-filled kickoff event at the Main Branch Library on Common Street on Saturday, June 7th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The kickoff party will include an outdoor karate dance party, a foam party, vehicle tours with the Police Department and Fire Department, snow cones, arts & crafts, and a kid’s book sale by the Friends of the Library.

Printed versions of the Summer Reading Program game card can be found at:

  • New Braunfels Public Library – Main Branch: 700 East Common Street
  • New Braunfels Public Library - Westside Library & Community Center: 2910 South I-35 Frontage Rd.
  • New Braunfels City Hall: 550 Landa St.
  • Das Rec: 345 Landa St.

Each time you complete an activity from the list, mark it on the game card, and after you complete five activities, come to the library to pick up your first prize. Prize pickup starts June 23. After you complete 10 activities, you can pick up your second prize, and when you've completed the game card (a total of 24 activities) you will receive an entry for our grand prize drawing. Grand prize entries are accepted through Friday, August 1st. And the Summer Reading Wrap Up Party will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 10am to 1pm at the Westside Library & Community Center and will include live music and a foam party!

There are a variety of events for kids and adults that are being offered throughout the summer to help you complete your activity list. Programming this year includes science shows, a toddler and preschooler sock hop, Christmas in July, a dinosaur bone demonstration, and specialty story times. It’s easy for the whole family to participate together and get reading this summer. Just pick up a game card and get started!
